This spring we went to Leonard's Mills to watch the Alewives "running" up stream. It was very cool watching them fight the water to get to where they needed to be. All of my years in Maine and I've been so interested to see this. I felt like we could have stayed there for quite some time watching these fish, but sadly the black flies were insane. Seriously insane. We were there for a few minutes and I looked over to see a whole swarm of them around the baby's head. Next year we'll bring lots of bug spray. Or find a place closer to the coast with less bugs! But still a very cool thing to experience!
And then we came home for a little treat (you know, your typical spring day)!
