Keeping Mom and Dad Out!

One of Lily's barricades

I caught her trying to turn on the lights in the hall!
I thought Lily would be a teenager before she tried keeping us out of her room. Nope. She's not even three yet and is already trying to keep us away!:)
It wasn't that long ago (just before Eli was born) that Lily would peacefully remain in her room during nap time and bedtime. Yes, she would occasionally bring some toys and books into bed and play a bit before falling asleep- but she would never leave her room! And yes, she even went through a stage where she would lay in bed and kick the wall (just for fun- not because she was angry)- but she stayed in her bed. Even in the morning she would stay in her bed and wait for us to come get her. Those days are gone. Once she discovered that she could get out of her room on her own there was no turning back! Each nap time and bedtime have become a bit of a battle trying to keep our little sweetheart in her room. She loves to run around upstairs, get drinks of water from the bathroom sink, turn on the lights to her room (which are in the hall), and occasionally try to join us downstairs. We have started putting her back to bed as soon as we hear her. And her response was to begin building little barricades to keep us out!:) She put whatever stools, chairs, or toys she can find at the top of the stairs in an adorable attempt to keep mom and dad at bay and give herself a little longer to play! It just absolutely cracks us up! A few times she has even put the baby gate in front of her door. This little girl is nothing if not creative! It's pretty cute now. We could be in trouble in 10 years!
