Our Own Skating Rink!

Skating26 (1 of 1) In January Joe made us our very own little ice skating rink in the backyard! He was hoping to make it bigger, but we weren't sure how well it would work and didn't want to spend a lot of money on the bigger tarp. Instead we spent $20 on a large clear plastic tarp and Joe made us this great little rink! Skating27 (1 of 1) Skating3 (1 of 1)
The rink turned out great and the kids have spent many hours out there having a blast. Lily even learned how to skate without the trainer Joe made her last year! She has been doing great...still a few spills here and there (as you'll see) but she just gets back up and keeps on skating! Eli doesn't have skates yet, but she still loves sliding on the ice and he's pretty great at shooting with the hockey stick! I hope that we can make this a yearly tradition! And I guess that brother and sister love means a little laugh every now and then when the other takes a spill! Skating22 (1 of 1)
Thankfully hugs and more fun always follows! Skating23 (1 of 1) Skating24 (1 of 1) Skating25 (1 of 1)

Ang, can u give a little DIY tutorial? Did he use some kind of edging to keep the water in etc. ? We have one small frozen spot that Ella LOVES to slide around on. I'm sure she'd adore a rink!
