Last Hurrah Before Baby!

On Saturday we spent the day in Mt. Dessert Island and Acadia National Park (pretty much one of our very favorite places ever).  It was sort of our last big hurrah before the baby comes.  We went down to visit our dear friends, the Litchfields, who bought a camp in that area!  We don't get to see them nearly enough (they work with Lifelines in New Hampshire) so this was a special treat.  It was fun to see their new place...the setting was amazing and the camp itself was quite the work in progress (but if anybody can pull it off they can)!  We didn't get to visit with them as much as I would have loved too because they were knee deep in mud, gravel, chipping wood, and major home renovations but we did get to have lunch together and visit for a bit.  I wish we could have helped them more, but I'm not exactly in the best condition for helping with major construction!:)  So after lunch with them we visited a local boat launch/swimming area to let the kids and pup cool off (because even though we were on the coast it was still around 90 degrees and humid as all get out).  After that we stopped at a great sand beach on the ocean where the kids had a blast (and where Sadie and I rested in the air conditioned car because dogs weren't allowed on the beach).
And then we took a drive up Cadillac Mountain.  We have been up there so many times before, but Eli didn't really remember it and it was so fun to see him in such awe of everything (the drive up the mountain, the view, climbing on the rocks, seeing the islands, etc...).  He was certain he could see our house from the top!:)

Acadia (1 of 1) Acadia2 (1 of 1) And they probably would have been happy running around up there for hours if we had let them! Acadia3 (1 of 1) Acadia4 (1 of 1) Acadia5 (1 of 1) And then on the way out we stopped for ice cream at one of my favorite little places (it's my favorite not because of the ice cream, but really because of these really fun swings they have for the kids)! The kids had so much fun on the swings and I had so much fun photographing them on the swings! Acadia6 (1 of 1) Acadia7 (1 of 1) Acadia8 (1 of 1) Acadia9 (1 of 1) Acadia10 (1 of 1) Acadia11 (1 of 1) Acadia12 (1 of 1) Acadia13 (1 of 1) Acadia14 (1 of 1) Acadia15 (1 of 1) Acadia16 (1 of 1) Acadia17 (1 of 1) Acadia18 (1 of 1) Acadia19 (1 of 1)
By the time we got home there was just enough time for a BBQ dinner, a shower to clean up, and then right to bed! What a full, fun day and a wonderful way to spend our last outing as a family of four!
