Acadia Lifelines Summer Project

For the last three weeks we have been in Bar Harbor for our summer assignment on the Acadia Lifelines Summer Project. Our focus for our time here has been to train a number of our new Lifelines staff. We also have a small group of students that we are training who arrived a week ago. It has been a really good time filled with lots of training, learning how to live in grace and truth with one another and God, and of course a few outdoor activities along the way (biking, hiking, rock climbing, and sea kayaking)! It's been great to be back with some very good friends of ours and it's also been really fun making some new friends. So yes, it has been good. And yet we are exhausted!! Don't be totally fooled by the beautiful smiling face you see here- while Eli has, as a whole, adjusted well- he is not sleeping well at all (and thus neither are we since we share a very small bedroom with him in our cottage)! In addition to waking briefly a few times a night he has also apparently decided that 4:55a.m. is his time to wake up (5:15a.m. or 5:30a.m. if we are lucky)! Uggghhh- it's a good thing he is so cute and sweet!:) Joe is also directing the project this summer so all of that extra work and responsibility is really wearing this family out (especially Joe). So yes, we are tired- and yet there have been some really wonderful moments, hours, and days (like the rare afternoon the first week that I spent lounging on the lawn outside our cottage with Eli- shown here in these pictures)! We wrap up the project and head home on Saturday. I am really going to miss these friends and relationships- oh how I love having some of my very close friends living right next door. And yet I am so looking forward to some time off and a little more time spent in my own, sweet, cozy bed!
